Job Description
A Senior Site Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of large-scale construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They act as the primary on-site leader, coordinating all activities and serving as the main point of contact for stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution:
- Oversee all aspects of the construction project from planning and mobilization to execution and completion.
- Develop and implement detailed project strategies, schedules, and site execution plans.
- Coordinate on-site activities, including the timely procurement and delivery of materials, plant, and equipment.
- Ensure that work is carried out in strict accordance with design specifications, blueprints, and technical documentation.
Health, Safety, and Quality Control:
- Champion a zero-tolerance safety culture and ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, regulations, and local laws.
- Conduct regular, comprehensive site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Implement and enforce the project Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), conduct quality control inspections, and manage the rectification of any remedial work or non-conformances.
Team and Resource Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor site teams, including site managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and direct labor.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance team performance.
- Manage human resources on-site, including coordinating workforce allocation and ensuring adequate staffing levels.
Stakeholder and Financial Management:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the site team and clients, architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and senior management.
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance, including tracking expenses, managing cost variances, and reviewing subcontractor payment applications and change orders.
- Prepare and deliver detailed, regular progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly) to senior leadership and stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Negotiate contracts and secure necessary permits and licenses with relevant authorities.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
Lead project closure activities, including final inspections, snag rectification, and final handover to the client and operations teams.
Identify potential project-impacting issues and delays proactively, developing and implementing solutions to ensure project continuity.
Manage and resolve any on-site conflicts or issues that arise swiftly and effectively.
